3 Essential Oils for Every Situation

All essential oils are useful in one way or another, but there are a select few that are jacks of all trades in the essential oils world. These multi-purpose oils are easy go-to’s in almost every situation, making them essential to have at home. Here are 3 of our favorite essential oils that are good for just about every situation:

 1. Peppermint Oil

The cooling sensation of peppermint oil is clear and invigorating. It blends well with many other oils, making it a great addition to your cleaning, bath, and workout routines. It can be diffused, or applied topically when diluted with a carrier oil, and is included in many essential oil blends.

2. Orange Oil

Besides being everyone’s favorite fresh scent, orange oil is useful in lots of ways, all over the house. It’s great for refreshing surfaces, eliminating odors, and as part of hair and skincare routines.

3. Lavender Oil

Famous for its fragrance and versatility, lavender oil is one of the most commonly used essential oils in the world. Lavender oil has a calming effect and a signature floral scent. This makes it perfect for adding to your linens, laundry, bath, and skincare products. It’s also a great addition to diffuser blends and is a powerhouse of aromatherapy all on its own.

Life Advice From Mother Nature

We’re all familiar with that peaceful, grounded feeling we get when we’re out in nature. That’s the feeling we’re trying to bottle up in our essential oils. When Mother Nature is talking, we try to listen, and we’ve heard some great advice! When you take a look at life from the perspective of a plant, some game-changing strategies begin to grow.

LEAN INTO THE LIGHT

Have you ever noticed that many flowers will turn towards the sun as it moves across the sky? They focus on the light, and soak up as much of it as they can. What brings light to your life? Identify the parts of your life that make you feel warm and bright, and train your life to move towards them constantly.

GROWING SLOWLY IS STILL GROWING

You could sit and watch the grass grow all day, and not even see it happening, but each week it’s time to mow it again. Sometimes progress isn’t made in big leaps and bounds. It’s made by setting and achieving small goals, and by having gratitude for all the ways that small growth adds up to big changes.

SOMETIMES PRUNING IS NECESSARY

Many plants need to be pruned to optimize growth. Cutting back on peripheral energy allows the plant to centralize its resources, and come back stronger than ever. It may feel counterintuitive to cut back when you feel like something is lacking, but simplifying your life can make room for new growth and opportunities. Sometimes painful losses end up being blessings in disguise, and just the thing we need to move forward.

CHANGE WITH THE SEASONS

Life is just as much about knowing when to act as it is about knowing how to act. Timing is everything, and plants are masters at knowing when it’s time to bloom and grow, and when it’s time to hibernate for protection from extreme conditions. It’s good to soak up the light and branch out, but it’s okay to take a break, regroup, and save up some energy before taking another run at it.

SEEK BALANCE AND NOURISHMENT

Plants can be delicate when they’re not getting the nourishment they need, but they’re strong and resistant when they are. They need access to water, sunlight, and the proper nutrients. Taking care of yourself means more than just eating healthy food. It also means finding enjoyment in your life, and nourishing your mind and spirit as well.

Take a tip from a plant. Soak up some sunlight, be true to your deep roots, and you’ll thrive in all kinds conditions!

Let’s get started! Don’t forget to pin the infographic below so you can keep this recipe forever and share it with your friends.

DIY Bath Bombs made with Essential Oils

What you’ll need:

-1 cup of baking soda
-3/4 cup of citric acid
-3/4 cup of Epsom salts
-4 tablespoons of fractionated coconut oil
-Water in a spray bottle
-10-12 drops of essential oil of your choice
-3-4 drops food coloring of choice (optional)
-Bath bomb molds

Directions:

1. Add Epsom salts, baking soda, and citric acid to a medium bowl and use a whisk or fork to blend well.

2. In a separate small bowl, combine coconut oil and the essential oil of your choice.

3. Add the coconut oil and essential oil mixture slowly to the dry ingredients using a spoon to mix as you go. Be sure to add the wet ingredients slowly so you don’t activate the “bomb” prematurely.

4. If the mixture seems too dry, use the spray bottle, one squirt at a time until the mixture lets you press it together and it doesn’t fall apart. The mixture should resemble wet sand.

5. Fill both sides of the mold and press together firmly. Be sure that both sides of the mold are closed. If they don’t close tightly, remove some of the mixture.

6. Remove bath bomb from the mold and leave it out overnight to dry on a clean, dry towel.

Makes 3-4 two-inch bath bombs.

Drop in a warm tub and enjoy!
